World champion Viswanathan Anand defeated Hungary’s Peter Leko in the second game of their eight-game rapid chess clash to take a 1.5-0.5 lead on the opening day at Miskolc, Hungary, on Wednesday.

Both games witnessed the opening lines of Grunfeld defence. The first game, where Leko opened with white pieces, ended in a 28-move draw.
