  • Ganguly decides to come into CAB

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has decided to make a first move to become a cricket administrator by seeking a place in the all-powerful working committee of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

The cricketer-turned-commentator has given the green signal to be part of the working committee. As a first step he will have to be nominated as one of the voters of 121 units during the July 31 CAB annual general meeting.

He chose Siliguri, one of the 18 district units, affiliated to the CAB. The district is set to ratify the decision to nominate Ganguly on Sunday. The unit is controlled by one of the powerful Left Front ministers, Asok Bhattacharya, a staunch supporter of Ganguly.

The working committee is chosen from among the 121 units in turn and in the coming year, Siliguri district will be an automatic choice to be in the committee.

Ganguly’s family controls five clubs based in Behala but either some of them have finished their turn to be in the working committee or have already nominated its representative.
