  • Transformers: The Game Free Download

Originally launched as a toy collection, Transformers soon arrived to television as an animated series that fascinated children all over the world. Now these peculiar robots are back to fight for the Earth in a cinema near you.

This game enables you to take a more active part in the Transformers story, rather than just watching them moving on the screen. You'll be able to control Bumblebee (your only option in the demo) and make your way through the city in search of enemy robots.

The game displays very good graphics but unfortunately we cannot say the same about controls: mobility and aiming are difficult to get used to, especially when you're car-shaped. On the upside, the ability to interact with the whole scenario is really fun!

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory 2.60 Patch Pc game free download

There are few games that have as long and venerated a lineage as Wolfenstein. For many gamers, it rates as one of their first experiences of the visceral world of the first person shooter. That sense of nostalgia is not something to take lightly - first games are not unlike someone of a previous generation knowing where they were when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon.

Nostalgia is a harsh mistress, however. Can Raven's latest idTech4-powered iteration provide solid action, while still pleasing the old-school fans hankering for a new PC classic?

    Console-port-tastic
Wolfenstein and PC gaming goes hand in hand like bread and butter, but this time, Wolfenstein's coming out across all the major gaming platforms. And it shows, in all the wrong ways.

If you're a gamer and upgrader worth your salt the first thing you'll do in any game is dig into the graphics options to make sure your new game is going to look as shiny as your practically nuclear-powered rig can make it. And that's going to be your first big disappointment in Wolfenstein, as there's barely any options to tweak!

You can bump graphics detail up and down between three settings in about seven variables, and the only one that really speaks to the PC's power is Anisotropic Filtering - we don't even get to play around with anti-aliasing! This would be okay if the game had some native hi-res texture packs to make up for it, but we're playing with the same files that the console-crowd will be tooling around in.

The graphics aren't the only are of the game that suffers from the port. The main interface is very much designed with a thumb-stick in mind, rather than the more elegant mouse (sorry, console fans, it's just true); it takes about three times more clicks than you'd expect to even get into a game, and when you are in-game, don't even think about quick-saving. Checkpoints and auto-saves are the order of the day, but there do seem to be a lot of them, and we've not found it too onerous relying on them. Before each big set-piece there's always a save, and the discrete nature of a lot of the encounters allows you adequate time to recover from each firefight.

Killing Nazis for fun and profit
All of that whining aside, there's a lot to like about Wolfenstein's single-player. It kicks off with a stunning CGI intro, and then drops you more or less straight into the action. You play long-time protagonist BJ Blazkowicz as he attempts to fathom the dark dealings of the SS as they in turn seek out the secrets of the mysterious power known as the Black Sun.

The plot is pretty much Raiders of the Lost Ark on crack, and with even more exploding bodies! In a lot of ways, it's pretty much bang on what you want from a Wolfenstein, though this time the focus on occult action is even heavier.

Even BJ's getting in on some occult loving thanks to the acquisition early in the game of a Thule Medallion, an artefact of a bygone age that lets him see behind the Veil and into a shadowy otherworld. This is the prime mechanic of the game, and you'll swap into Veil vision to see secret doors, enemy weakpoints, and use powers like slowing the flow of time to take advantage of slow-mo enemies.

It's a pretty neat effect, too. In the Veil, your focus on the world is sharper, and you see everything in ghostly shades of blue, while strange creatures and dark winds flow through this otherworld. Using the Veil runs down your Veil energy, as do the various powers, but there are many Veil fountains throughout each level, so running out of energy is more of a hangnail than a fatal error.

But all that fun boils simply down to one thing - killing Germans - and for all the added colour of the Veil, Wolfenstein's gameplay still seems a little one dimensional.

Part of this is the level design, which tries to make you feel like you're in a big world, but is in fact really quite linear. There's lots of ammo, more than enough veil energy to harvest, and since a lot of the action takes place in cramped areas, explosives can be very powerful.

There's the usual variety of real-world weaponry, and things get even easier when you start picking up some of the super-science weapons that the Shock Troopers carry. To be honest, most of our deaths were from our own grenades, which seem to have an annoying knack of finding things to bounce off then land back at our feet.

It all adds up to a singleplayer experience that is fun enough, but only just. Surely multiplayer will be our savior?!

    War is a team effort
In some ways Wolfenstein's multiplayer is a serious step backwards. Its graphics are, well, lacklustre at best (it's the same engine, but tweaked for performance rather than quality), and why anyone, let alone a dev like Raven, would bring out a game with 12 player cap in this day and age is beyond me. On the other hand, there are some hints of innovation, or at least paying attention to what a good online game should be, that it'll likely draw you back more than the adequate singleplayer campaign.

Multiplayer revolves around class-based gameplay (Soldier, Medic and Engineer), in three modes (Team Deathmatch, Stopwatch and Objective). There's fun to be had, but you can't help but feel that few more players, or some better animations or textures, would really lift the experience. The ability to buy yourself persistent upgrades between matches is good, but not quite enough to pull Wolfenstein over the line online.

Raven seems to agree, too, as a zero-day patch updated a lot of early issues; the dev studio that made the multiplayer component was laid off at much the same time, too. Yipes.

But, we can't really blame them. Wolfenstein has promised so much, and just not quite delivered. It's fun, but it could have been so much more.

War of Titans Pc game free download

War of Titans is an multiplayer online role playing game based around gladiators. Create a Gladiator of your own, and guide them through battles, gaining experience and money to improve your strength, endurance, and of course arm yourself to the teeth!

The reality of War of Titans is a bit more mundane. When you begin, you choose a caste of Gladiator, which will affect how you fight a little during the game. There's a world map you can move around, completing quests to gain experience and 'level up'. Every city has an arena where you can visit th marketplace to spend your gold, and of course to take part in battles.

War of Titans' arena battles are probably the weakest part of the game. You point and click to move your Gladiator, and hit CTRL to attack. The other players in the arena can be attacked when you like, but because everyone walks (there is no running!) you can have bizarre relaxed chases, where all you can do is try to cut off your opponent before they run out of the arena!

The worst thing is that death is guaranteed. As you will always get damaged during fights, you can only reasonably fight gladiators more damaged than you or you will lose. Due to this, users with more damaged Gladiators don't want to get into fights they'll lose! It's not exciting, and feels more like a slog solely to gain experience. On the upside, it's easy and requires no skill, so it's perfect for gaming beginners.

The action part of War of Titans is too simple, but for online RPG fans, this is free and easy to get into - just don't expect an immersive experience.

Left 4 Dead 2 Pc game free download

For the uninitiated, the first Left 4 Dead took the survival horror of Resident Evil, and wrenched it into a post "28 Days Later" zombie world. The zombies, or 'infected' in Left 4 Dead 2 are no lumbering, groaning shuffling monsters. These are athletic, fast moving beings that dash towards you when they see or hear you. This sequel promises to build on that formula, with new weapons, scenarios and of course... new zombies!
This demo lets you play one campaign, entitled "The Parish" either in one player mode (with three AI companions), or online with four players fighting to survive together. The latter gives you a more dynamic game, but both modes have as much atmosphere, stress and of course blood and gore as anyone could wish for!
No one play-through seems to be the same, making repeated play very attractive. You may know where you're going, but you can't predict what's going to happen. With multiplayer this is even more apparent, and it really is the better experience.
It looks like Left 4 Dead 2 is cementing its supremacy over the aged, lumbering Resident Evil series - these zombies are varied, fast moving and extremely vicious. There's really nothing like the moments when a horde of zombies are rushing towards you, it's one of the most visceral, adrenalin pumping creations in gaming's history.
This is a great demo of what looks like being a fantastic and worthy sequel. There's little to criticize, unless you don't like what it offers. Resident Evil is a more tense affair, and the story in Left 4 Dead 2 isn't the most subtle, but that's not what this game is about.
Fantastic cooperative multiplayer, adrenalin filled gory gameplay and crowds of rushing zombie hordes: Left 4 Dead 2 is incredible.

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) IV Trailer Free download

After having already published two other trailers that gave us a sneak peek of the game, Rockstar offers now a third, longer video with many more details about the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto IV.
This 2-minute long trailer includes images from the game featuring known elements such as the streets of Liberty City, where the action takes place, and also new characters, new vehicles and a glimpse of all the new missions and submissions you'll be entrusted with in GTA's fourth episode. The video is presented just like a movie trailer, using cinema-like editing, transitions and even credits.
Although a video can't obviously capture the feelings you experiment while playing this game, it does help a lot in getting an overall impression that contributes even more to rise the hype around GTA IV, to the extent that even Nintendo lifetime fans like me might consider moving on to XBOX360 or even PS3…
Action cinema meets action videogames in this beautifully designed trailer where you'll get a preview of the all new Grand Theft Auto title coming next April 29th. If you're a true GTA series fan you shouldn't miss it.

GTA The Ballad of Gay Tony Pc Game free Download

PC and PlayStation 3 owners may despair that Rockstar's episodic content isn't coming to their systems. However, if you own a computer, Blackberry or iPhone, you can at least enjoy some of the shiny atmosphere from the upcoming GTA The Ballad Of Gay Tony atmosphere with this wallpaper.

This is the first image available from the game, and again has a much different style to the original story featuring the world weary Niko, and the biker gang episode The Lost and The Damned. GTA The Ballad of Gay Tony Wallpaper looks like a much sleazier, neon colored story.

Unfortunately there is just the one piece of artwork, but there are eight widescreen and normal versions, plus iPhone and Blackberry optimized images. There is sure to be a resolution that fits your monitor.

GTA The Ballad Of Gay Tony Wallpaper gives you a great looking, disco inspired image to get you in the mood for the upcoming GTA episode.

Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator Pc game Free Download

As any MMORPG player knows, the perfect character is key to enjoying the game. The same is absolutely true for Dragon Age, so the developers have produced an excellent tool to help you achieve this - the Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator. This downloadable program allows you to create tailor-made characters, save them, upload them to Dragon Age and use them in your games.

What really makes Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator amazing is the degree of detail you can specify. Not content with allowing you to modify the usual, such as eye color and hairstyle, Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator really allows you to push the specifications to the limit. Bigger nose? Eyes closer together? Higher eyebrows? These and other equally specific features are offered by the tool. You can even specify the type of voice your character will have, and the pose they strike in their avatar. The whole character creation process is accompanied by atmospheric music, and most options have rollover information.

Users of Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator will also be able to specify non-physical features, such as attributes and skills. Obviously, you'll need to be familiar with the game to get the most out of this, partially because you'll need to make decisions about where your points are allocated and partially because Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator doesn't come with help or a game FAQ. Once you are happy with your creation, you can use it directly in the PC version of the game or upload it to the Bioware server for use in online games. More details on this procedure can be found on the game's website.

Highly-detailed, custom characters will make Dragon Age even more fun!

Superstars V8 Racing Pc Game Free Download

Superstars V8 Racing is the new high octane racer from Black Bean Games.

This seems to be aiming for accessibility as well as the complexity that serious sim lovers want. While you can jump straight into the game and race, changing difficulty levels and more means you can have a lengthy realistic experience too. Pit stops and car setups are optional.

In this demo you can choose from a range of touring cars, which all handle slightly differently. There is one track - Portimao - which you can race in wet or dry conditions. Control is normal, and supports force feedback wheels if you have one. There are a range of camera modes - although there is no in cockpit view.

The racing is just like you'd expect from touring cars - very much a contact sport, fast and exciting. If this is the type of racing you like, you'll love it. In this demo damage seems to be minimal, and the AI is pretty effective even on easy, so expect to be well challenged!

Superstars V8 Racing is a pretty big download for only one track, but it's certainly a fast paced and aggressive racing game so is well worth a try.
